چکیده

A multi-cube method is developed for solving systems of elliptic and hyperbolic partial differential equations numerically on manifolds with arbitrary spatial topologies. It is shown that any three-dimensional manifold can be represented as a set of non-overlapping cubic regions, plus a set of maps to identify the faces of adjoining regions. The differential structure on these manifolds is fixed by specifying a smooth reference metric tensor. Matching conditions that ensure the appropriate levels of continuity and differentiability across region boundaries are developed for arbitrary tensor fields. Standard numerical methods are then used to solve the equations with the appropriate boundary conditions, which are determined from these inter-region matching conditions. Numerical examples are presented which use pseudo-spectral methods to solve simple elliptic equations on multicube representations of manifolds with the topologies T, S S and S. Examples are also presented of numerical solutions of simple hyperbolic equations on multi-cube manifolds with the topologies R T , R S S and R S. 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Solving Einstein’s equation numerically on manifolds with arbitrary spatial topologies

This paper develops a method for solving Einstein’s equation numerically on multicube representations of manifolds with arbitrary spatial topologies. This method is designed to provide a set of flexible, easy to use computational procedures that make it possible to explore the never before studied properties of solutions to Einstein’s equation on manifolds with arbitrary toplogical structures. ...

An Efficient Numerical Algorithm For Solving Linear Differential Equations of Arbitrary Order And Coefficients

Referring to one of the recent works of the authors, presented in~cite{differentialbpf}, for numerical solution of linear differential equations, an alternative scheme is proposed in this article to considerably improve the accuracy and efficiency. For this purpose, triangular functions as a set of orthogonal functions are used. By using a special representation of the vector forms of triangula...

The use of radial basis functions by variable shape parameter for solving partial differential equations

In this paper, some meshless methods based on the local Newton basis functions are used to solve some time dependent partial differential equations. For stability reasons, used variably scaled radial kernels for constructing Newton basis functions. In continuation, with considering presented basis functions as trial functions, approximated solution functions in the event of spatial variable wit...

A Cylindrical Radial Basis Function for Solving Partial Differential Equations on Manifolds

The numerical solution of partial differential equations on arbitrary manifolds continues to generate a lot of interest among scientists in the natural and applied sciences. Herein we develop a simple and efficient method for solving PDEs on manifolds represented as point clouds. By projecting the radial vector of standard RBF kernels onto the local tangent plane, we are able to produce RBF rep...
